Results of a survey of parents of LS & EY students about the level of satisfaction with the quality of distance education

We continue to carefully collect feedback from students’ parents and analyse the results of a survey of parents of students in schools in Moscow and St. Petersburg. This time we evaluate the results of a survey of parents of LS & EY students about the level of satisfaction with the quality of distance education in two Brookes schools in Russia.

The study involved 40% of parents of two schools, while more than 80% of students belonged to age groups Y1, Y3-Y5. It is noted that 63.6% of students started classes at 08:30, 13% between 09:00 and 10:00, and 10.4% joined classes at 08:45. 63.6% used an iPad to connect, 20.8% used a Macbook, and 9.1% used a PC Laptop. 80.6% of respondents rated the quality of the Internet connection as “excellent or very good”.

93% of respondents are satisfied with the level of information from the school, 81% noted the high motivation of children to study, while due to their young age, children in 53% of cases needed support from their parents for a half or full-day.

Among the difficulties parents of children face is the difficulty in motivating young children, because it is not always easy for children to explain that “this is the same school, only now we have it at home”. Many parents who can provide their child with support in learning English are themselves actively involved in the performance of their work responsibilities outside the home or work remotely. Some parents expect more attention from the teacher in a 1:1 mode with analysis of class and homework. Some parents are concerned about the longer time the child is in front of the computer screens. Parents also offer to conduct special lessons with reading books and are looking for opportunities to exchange children’s books in English.

The vast majority of parents appreciated the convenience of working in the ManageBac system, and in general, the level of satisfaction with the quality of distance learning exceeded 75%. Parents provided a large number of very valuable comments, each of which will be carefully studied and will form the basis of the steady process of improving distance learning.
