Charity Activities

Worthy cause

Charity activities are an integral part of the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, which emphasizes the importance of giving back to the community and promoting social responsibility.

One of the most common charity activities in Brookes is organizing fundraising. Students and teachers work together to plan and execute these campaigns, which often involve a lot of creativity and teamwork. The funds raised through these events are then donated to different charitable organizations or used to support local community projects.

Another popular charity activity in Brookes is volunteering. Students are encouraged to take an active role in their community by volunteering their time and skills to different causes. This can involve working with local charities, community centers, or environmental organizations. Volunteering not only helps students develop important skills such as leadership, teamwork, and communication but also allows them to make a positive impact in their community.

We are delighted to share that as of last week, Brookes Russia has been recognised as an official partner of the Charitable foundation “Children’s and Adults Hospice “Paper Bird”. The foundation is now opening a new palliative care facility for children in Moscow Region and we are currently working closely with the hospice’s administration to outline the ways Brookes Russia can support this project.

Grant Life Foundation Подари жизнь
  • Подари жизнь

On November 25th, 2021, we announced the Brookes Moscow Charity Gift Drive for Grant Life (Podari Zhizn) Foundation. Over the next three weeks, nearly one hundred gifts were donated by the members of our beautiful community. Then, on a beautiful snowy morning of Friday, December 17th, we delivered all of these gifts to the foundation warehouse. Although we could not give those gifts directly to children and experience their joyful smiles in person, we know it was done to protect the children, whose immune systems are already severely affected by their illness and the treatment.

Be kind. Be caring. Be Brookes.

The Rescue Hangar support, December 2021.

Often you don't need to spend any money to help those in need. For that reason, Brookes Moscow Team wanted to make it easier for everyone to share their warmth with others to help them get through the called Russian winter. It was yet another winter Friday, December 3rd when we announced a new charity campaign! We called out to the Brookes Community to bring their old (or new!) warm winter accessories, such as scarves, hats, gloves, socks and tights, which would then be delivered to the Rescue Hangar shelter for the homeless. The donations started flowing right away.

On Wednesday, December 22nd, the temperature fell to -20 Cº. We could not wait any longer! With the selfless help of Brookes volunteers, we delivered all of the warm and cozy accessories to the facility. Seeing bags filled with donated items filled our hearts with more joy and warmth than we could ever describe. So instead, we will show you some pictures taken on the delivery day.

As we mentioned earlier - this is an ongoing campaign, and there are still many more deliveries to come.

Brookes Angels for Raduga Orphanage

Like the students of Brookes Moscow, the Raduga Orphanage residents' ages range from two to eighteen years old! Nevertheless, despite their age difference, they are a very tightly-knit family. They face all of life's misfortunes together and celebrate its happy moments the same way. For this campaign, children from the orphanage wrote letters to Father Frost in which they shared their holiday wishes. However, we decided that miracles sometimes need a little help to happen. This is why Brookes Moscow staff members picked random letters from under our Christmas tree and became the magical Wishmakers for the Raduga's little Angels.

We all worked together to make this magic happen. We even wrote personalised responses from Father Frost himself to every little angel. Because here at Brookes, we believe that little details like that make all the difference.

This time, our charity coordinator had a unique opportunity to give presents to children in person. The gratitude and the belief in miracles that she could see in their eyes encouraged her to work even harder on finding new ways to coordinate Brookes resources to help those in need. We believe that the beautiful friendships created throughout this campaign will be strong and long-lasting.
