The Cherry Orchard

In May our performance hall was transformed into Baltimore, with The Corny Collins show “Hairspray” broadcasting to our enraptured Brookes Community.

Singing and dancing, smiles and donuts, the “Nicest Kids in Town” put on a spectacular performance for the ages!

And in November Brookes is going to reanimate the drama of a remote estate in a “miserable little backwater” through a unique avant-garde production – the famous Chekhov’s masterpiece “The Cherry Orchard”.

The avant-garde production may not tap the singularly empathic sounds of Chekhov yet will emphasize the tragedy of abject souls bent over like human versions of the eponymous orchard that will soon be felled. The set design and performance style will be symbolic and abstract while underlining the reality of life. The cast of the play were hired amongst the school’s DP and Y11 students.
