Analysis sessions at Brookes

Last Friday, our DP2 (Y13) Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Systems and Society students conducted soil and water analysis session. Before conducting this practical session, students visited the surroundings of the Yauza river and extracted the water, soil and algae samples in two locations (up and downstream). They developed their own sampling strategies and performed soil pH as well as water quality analyses to assess the effect of the road construction site over the abiotic variables of the Yauza park ecosystem. These experiences allow them to practice for their individual investigations (internal assessments), showcase their thinking and collaboration skills, and think locally to apply solutions globally.
