DP Students CAS Project Results

As you know, creativity, activity, service (CAS) is one of the three essential elements that every student must complete as part of the Diploma Programme (DP).

The three strands of CAS, which are often interwoven with particular activities, are characterized as follows:

  • Creativity – arts, and other experiences that involve creative thinking.
  • Activity – physical exertion contributing to a healthy lifestyle, complementing academic work elsewhere in the DP.
  • Service – an unpaid and voluntary exchange that has a learning benefit for the student. The rights, dignity and autonomy of all those involved are respected.

In order to demonstrate these concepts, students are required to undertake a CAS project. The project challenges students to:

  • show initiative
  • demonstrate perseverance
  • develop skills such as collaboration, problem-solving and decision-making.

Recently, two of our DP students completed their CAS project and we are happy to share their amazing results! They ran a competition for all classes in years 3-6 to see who could gather the most food for a charity organisation called “Angar Spasenia”. The food donations will be distributed by the charity amongst homeless people. In total, they managed to collect 400 kg of food, and congratulated a winner - class 6B, who donated approximately 80 kg! To achieve these wonderful results, our two DP students went to multiple assemblies here at school to spread word of mouth about their project, and directed and supervised the collecting process together with teachers.

We are proud of their successful CAS project and great collaboration.
