Transition Meetings: Supporting students and families through key educational milestones

At the end of May, our school hosted a series of Transition Meetings for parents of students entering Grades 7, 10, and 12 — pivotal moments in the journey through the MYP and DP programmes. These meetings go beyond simple information sessions: they are meaningful opportunities to connect, inform, and collaborate in support of each student’s continued success.
Why Transition Meetings matter
Moving to a new stage of education can bring both excitement and uncertainty — not only for students but for their families as well. Academic expectations evolve, students are encouraged to take more ownership of their learning, and the overall structure of school life changes. Transition Meetings are designed to help families navigate these shifts with clarity and confidence.
During these sessions, parents are guided through:
- key developments in curriculum structure and learning goals;
- changes in teaching approaches and assessment methods;
- the academic and pastoral support systems in place for students.
By offering this context, we help parents understand how best to support their children during these formative years.
Direct Conversations with Subject Experts
A highlight of the meetings is the opportunity for parents to engage directly with teachers and subject leaders. These personal conversations allow for a deeper understanding of each child’s strengths, growth areas, and how the curriculum is tailored to support individual potential. It’s an invaluable space for open dialogue and shared planning.
Partnership as the Foundation of Student Success
At our school, we believe that strong collaboration between school and family is one of the most important ingredients for student success. When parents are informed and involved, students are better equipped to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
We sincerely thank all parents who took part in the Transition Meetings. Your commitment and engagement play a vital role in helping our students grow with confidence, resilience, and purpose.
