Gryphon Award - Young Musician of the Year 2024

The first part of the Summer term has been marked with full-speed preparation for the Gryphon Award - Young Musician of the Year 2024. Many musically talented children from international, private and local schools of Moscow and Saint Petersburg took part in this bright event which was held by our school for the fourth time.

Three rounds of the competition were judged by a panel of highly competent professionals, among them world-known musicians and experienced music teachers: Professor of violin at the Central Music School Mr. Alexander Revich, concert pianist and professor of piano Ms. Vera Kameneva, famous opera singer and soloist of Novaya Opera soprano Ms. Polina Shamaeva, brilliant concert flautist from Switzerland Ms. Sofia de Salis, and one of the best Russian classical guitarists Mr. Artem Dervoed.

The Final round and Gala on Wednesday, April 24th, was featured with 10 “best of the best” young musicians. It was extremely difficult to choose which of them would receive the 1st prize, and after a long discussion, the Gryphon Award was awarded to 13-year old pianist Igor S. from Saint Petersburg’s school 598; 2nd place went to Ekaterina K. from school 1539. On behalf of the Gryphon Award organising committee we congratulate them, and wish more of our Brookes Moscow students to take the unique opportunity next year to participate in the Young Musician of the Year 2025 and fight for the trophy!
